South America, conclusion

Some thoughts about my trip in South America.

I've been back in Switzerland for a month, already. My intention was to create an almost scientifical graph of all distances and altitudes, and don't know what more. But now I realize that all this isn't necessary.

It will be enough to say that in theese 90 days:

* I travelled for tens of thousands of kilometers (without considering the flight)
* I traversed Peru, Bolivia, San Pedro de Atacama in Chile, and the North of Argentina
* I've been at 0m (Mancora) and at 5150m (Cordillera Huayhuash) of altitude
* I've been exposed to temperatores of -15°C (bolivian plateau in the South of Uyuni) to >30° (Nazca)
* I've seen the highest sailable lake (Titicaca), the world's highest capital (La Paz), the world's highest city (Potosì), the world's deadest place (the Salar de Uyuni), the nicest beach of Peru (Mancora), the world's most dangerous road (La Paz - Coroico), the world's second deepest canyon (Colca - next to the deepest one), the world's only floating islands(Uros), the world's second most beautiful trekking (around the Cordillera Huayhuash), I walked on one of the world wonders (Macchu Picchu), I became the world's most beautiful man...
* I missed the world's greatest city not attainable by car (Iquitos), I didn't learn enough about the cultures I met, I spent only one day in the jungle, I didn't manage to get a tan, to get rid of my internet addiction, to find a wife, and I got robbed in a taxi, but in return I learned kite surfing, I produced 6 GIGA of pictures, I drunk lots of jugo de platano con leche, I ate in restaurants every day for three months and I managed to keep my blog updated.
* All this spending around 1700.- (CHF) for the flight, 1000.- for the equipment, and 5000.- during the 3 months of permanence - a bit more than the half of the 17'000.- earned during 10 months of army...

The usual banalities one says writing a retrospective are true now:

It has been a beautiful experience, I learned much, somehow I might be changed, life goes on now.

I survived, and now I know what it means, to leave.

Coming back home I noticed that the self-assurance with which I did things, took decisions, talked to other people, is not given to me for free, here: somehow I have to "import" consciously those skills. Talking to a stranger in Switzerland is a new test. Living from day to day an ability to win back. To realize that I don't really have problems in life, an inner work to be repeated.

But there's a loose end.

I saw people suffering, and I felt guilty. Why?

This is the key to The Problem. The wedge in my modern heart, which will always prevent me from being happy even when I am happy. The reason I am here.

This article is short, but it's not the end.

Because this is my life.

Ps: thanks to all readers and people who went with me during this travel, phisically or not.
